I left the house early. Drove through the driving hail and rain towards the metro-plex. I went to Ft. Worth and visited a girl in the hospital who had just had a baby. I then went to the Kimball Art Musem and toured the exhibition of early christian art. They had artifacts from the 3rd, 4rth and 5th centry. It was really amazing. The display is going to be there for another month or so. It is only 7 dollars to get into see it. They give you a audio device to use to explain some of the exhibits.
I then went over to the state office of our denomination for a meeting for the State Chaplain's association. After the meeting I went to the tabernacle where they were having the Winter Prayer Meeting on Pentecostal Worship.
The head honcho of our denomination was preaching (Bishop G. Dennis McGuire). WOW, this man can preach it. To use an old expression, he really "shelled down the corn"..."he shucked it right on down to the cob." He really preached a powerful, spirit filled message. He preached from Hebrews 12:9-15. He was preaching on "get a new grip and hold on." His message was really wonderful. He called the young ministers forward and had the older ministers come up and lay hands on us and pray for us. The young ministers were then directed to turn around and lay hands on an older minister and pray for them.
God really touched me during this time. I sang, prayed, spoke in toungues, sang in the spirt and was very much refreshed. I had no voice left by the time it was done. I put on a Jason Upton CD and just had a wonderful time driving home.
It was a long day but a good day. New Birth, History, New Ministry and Old School Pentecostal Preaching. It does not get any better than this.
